Standard & Poor’s has revised downwards it projected losses for the banking industry. S&P now says that two-year cumulative losses for the industry will total roughly $790 billion, compared with an earlier estimate of $805 billion to $810 billion. The credit rating agency based its latest figure on the act that loans reported as of the end of last year were 7% lower than in 2008.
